Introduction

 

The First Narration:

I heard Allah’s Messenger salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam saying: Verily Allah granted eminence to Kinanah from amongst the descendants of Isma’il,…

 

The Second Narration:

I shall be leader amongst the descendants of Adam on the Day of Resurrection, I will be the first whose grave will open, I will be the first intercessor, and the first whose intercession will be accepted (by Allah).

 

The Third Narration:

The Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam went out one morning wearing a striped cloak (made) of a black camel’s hair. Hassan ibn ‘Ali came and the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam placed him under it. ….

 

The Fourth Narration:

When the verse was revealed Say, “Come, let us call our sons and your sons…”…..

 

The Fifth Narration:

Hussain ibn Sabrah, ‘Amr ibn Muslim, and I all went to visit Zaid ibn Arqam. As we sat at his side Hussain (ibn Sabrah) said to him, “O Zaid! You saw the Messenger of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, prayed behind him in salah, heard his speech, participated in military campaigns with him. ……

 

The Sixth Narration:

If anyone would like to have the fullest measure granted to him when he invokes blessings on us, the members of the prophet’s family, he should say: …..

 

The Seventh Narration:

On the authority of Ibn Shihab who says that ‘Ali ibn al Hussain narrated to him that when they arrived in Madinah after departing from Yazid ibn Muawiyah, following the martyrdom of Hussain ibn ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu…..

 

The Eighth Narration:

Aisha radiya Llahu ‘anha narrates, “The wives of Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam were with him [during his final illness]; none of them departed. Fatimah approached; her gait precisely matched the gait of Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam…..

 

The Ninth Narration:

When Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala revealed the verse: And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred…….

 

The Tenth Narration:

Allah’s Messenger salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam set out for Tabuk appointing ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu s his deputy (in Madinah)…..

 

The Eleventh Narration:

On the day of the Battle of Khaybar the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, “Tomorrow I will give the flag to somebody who will be granted victory, he loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him…..

 

The Twelfth Narration:

‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu gathered the people in the public square and said, “I entreat in the name of Allah every person who heard Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam saying what he said on the day of Ghadir Khum.”…..

 

The Thirteenth Narration:

Fatimah complained to me about (her hands becoming calloused due to milling) the flour. I said to her, “Why don’t you go to your father and request a slave from him.”….

 

The Fourteenth Narration:

Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam came to the home of Fatimah radiya Llahu ‘anha one day. ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu was sleeping and she was laying down with her sons next to her…..

 

The Fifteenth Narration:

Hassan took some dates from the dates of charity and placed it in his mouth. Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam instructed him to take it out from his mouth and said, “Do you not know, we the Ahlul Bayt do not eat of charity.”

 

The Sixteenth Narration:

Hassan radiya Llahu ‘anhu faced Muawiyah radiya Llahu ‘anhu with military squadrons like mountains. ‘Amr radiya Llahu ‘anhu said, “By Allah! I see military squadrons that will not turn back until they kill their opponents.”…

 

The Seventeenth Narration:

The head of Hussain radiya Llahu ‘anhu was brought to ‘Ubaidullah ibn Ziyad and placed in a dish. He began poking it and said something about his beauty. Anas radiya Llahu ‘anhu observed, “He was the closest in resemblance to Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.” His hair was dyed with indigo.

 

The Eighteenth Narration:

He was marching with ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu towards Siffin and when we reached Nineveh, ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu cried in a loud voice, “O Abu ‘Abdullah! Be patient. O Abu ‘Abdullah! Be patient beside the River Euphrates.”…..

 

The Nineteenth Narration:

I was present when a man asked Ibn ‘Umar about the blood of mosquitoes…..

 

The Twentieth Narration:

My mother asked me, “When do you plan to meet the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam?”….

 

The Twenty First Narration:

We would read ‘Isha salah with Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. When he would go into sajdah, Hassan and Hussain would jump on his back…..

 

The Twenty Second Narration:

On one occasion, Jibril ‘alayh al Salam came to the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and said, “O Messenger of Allah, Khadijah is coming with a bowl of soup (or food or drink) for you…..

 

The Twenty Third Narration:

Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam made four lines on the earth and asked, “Do you know what this is?”….

 

The Twenty Fourth Narration:

Many amongst men attained perfection but amongst women none attained perfection except Maryam, the daughter of ‘Imran; and Asiyah, the wife of Firoun. And the superiority of Aisha to other women is like the superiority of tharid over all other dishes.

 

The Twenty Fifth Narration:

The hadith of Sayyidah Aisha radiya Llahu ‘anha, the wife of Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, regarding the accusation levelled against her by the slanderers which Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala exonerated her from. ….

 

The Twenty Sixth Narration:

Zainab bint Jahsh would take pride over the wives of Nabi salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam by saying, “Verily Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala ordained my marriage from the heavens.” And it was due to her that the verses of hijab were revealed.

 

The Twenty Seventh Narration:

After Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam had passed away the wealth of Bahrain came upon which Abu Bakr radiya Llahu ‘anhu said, “Whoever had any debt or promise due upon the Prophet, should come and take it.”….

 

The Twenty Eighth Narration:

‘Abbas radiya Llahu ‘anhu came to Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and said, “O Rasulullah, we come and see the Quraysh talking, when they see us they discontinue their discussion.” ….

 

The Twenty Ninth Narration:

Whenever drought threatened them, ‘Umar ibn al Khattab would seek rain by the virtue of ‘Abbas ibn ‘Abdul Muttalib….

 

The Thirtieth Narration:

‘Umar ibn al Khattab sent a proposal to ‘Ali for his daughter…..

 

The Thirty First Narration:

His father, Rabi’ah ibn al Harith, and ‘Abbas ibn al Muttalib said to ‘Abdul Muttalib ibn Rabi’ah and al Fadl ibn al Abbas, “Go to the Messenger of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and tell him, ‘O Messenger of Allah, we are now of age as you see, and we wish to marry. ….

 

The Thirty Second Narration:

The Messenger of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam sent a man from Banu Makhzum to collect charity, so he said to Abu Rafi’, “Accompany me so that perhaps you may have some of it.”…

 

The Thirty Third Narration:

When the people of Makkah sent about ransoming their prisoners Zainab sent some property to ransom Abu al ‘As, sending among it a necklace of hers which Khadijah had, and (which she) had given to her when she married Abu al ‘As…..

 

The Thirty Fourth Narration:

The best of the martyrs is Hamzah ibn ‘Abdul Muttalib and then a man who stands up to a tyrant whilst commanding him to do good and forbidding him from evil due to which he is killed.

 

The Thirty Fifth Narration:

Bara ibn ‘Azib radiya Llahu ‘anhu narrates, “When Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam went for ‘umrah in the month of Dhu al Qa’dah, the people of Makkah did not allow him to enter Makkah till he agreed to conclude a peace treaty with them by virtue of which he would stay in Makkah for three days only [in the following year]…..

 

The Thirty Sixth Narration:

I was by my aunt Maimunah, the wife of Nabi salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam came to relieve himself and I brought his water….

 

The Thirty Seventh Narration:

He heard Anas ibn Malik say that Abu Talhah had said to Umm Sulaim, “I have just been listening to the Messenger of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and his voice was weak. I recognised hunger in it, so, do you have anything?”…

 

The Thirty Eighth Narration:

By the one in whose hands my life lies, Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala will enter into the fire whoever hates us, the Ahlul Bayt.

 

The Thirty Ninth Narration:

O People! The Quraysh are people of trustworthiness. If anyone seeks to finds fault with them, Allah will upend him on his face. He repeated that three times.

 

The Fortieth Narration:

The Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam sent ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu to Khalid radiya Llahu ‘anhu to retrieve the khums. He took one girl from there. In the morning he came with water dripping from his head….
