Introduction

All praise belongs to Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala by Whose grace all meritorious feats are accomplished, and by Whose command the world and the hereafter functions. Peace and salutations be upon the best of creation, Muhammad salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and upon his chosen Companions.

Verily the honourable scholars of this Ummah, who are bastions of guidance and upholders of the Truth, have always been a source of pride for this Ummah. And in this scholastic galaxy there are two radiant stars, Imam Hassan ibn Hassan ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib and his son, ‘Abdullah—may Allah shower his mercy upon them—whose noble status is attested to by the pages of history, whether it be those of the Ahlus Sunnah or others.

They also happen to be from the venerable scholars of the Ahlul Bayt, who we have been instructed to love and to be mindful of their rights [making studying their lives all the more beneficial].

However, it is extremely unfortunate that the current generation are wholly unacquainted with any aspect of their lives. Thus we have compiled this brief treatise which sheds light on their lives and scholarly prowess, as well as their social and political exploits. We concluded the discussion by addressing a few misconceptions that are commonly held—unfortunate as it may be—about these two personalities and providing a fitting response to them.

We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala to accept our humble efforts and make it a means for our benefit and others as well. And Allah is the Most High, All Knowing.
