Sayyidina Hassan al Muthanna
Name and lineage
He is the eminent Sayed Hassan ibn Hassan[1] ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib ibn ‘Abdul Muttalib ibn Hashim al Qurashi al Hashimi, the son of Hassan ibn ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu, the grandson of the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.
His great grandfather is the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, the Best of Creation and Leader of the Worlds.
His father is Hassan ibn ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu, the leader of the youth of Paradise.[2]
His grandfather is ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib radiya Llahu ‘anhu, one of the Ten Promised Paradise, and the fourth Rightly Guided Khalifah.
His paternal uncle is Hussain ibn ‘Ali al Shahid radiya Llahu ‘anhu, the leader of the youth of Paradise.[3]
His paternal granduncle is Jafar ibn Abi Talib al Shahid radiya Llahu ‘anhu, the possessor of two wings in Jannat.
His paternal great granduncle is Hamzah ibn ‘Abdul Muttalib radiya Llahu ‘anhu, the leader of the Martyrs.[4]
His grandmother is Fatimah bint Muhammad salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam ibn ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abdul Muttalib, the Queen of the Women in Paradise.[5]
His great grandmother is Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, Leader of the women of Paradise.[6]
As you can see he was surrounded by nobility, blessed indeed are his origins and noble is the house in which he was raised.
توارثهم آباء آبائهم قبل |
فما كان من خير أتوه فإنّما |
وتغرس إلاّ في منابتها النّخل |
هل ينبت الخطيّ إلاّ وشيجه |
Whatever good they have done it is merely due to their forefathers previously inheriting it from each other.
The Khatti[7] spears are not produced but by their roots.[8] And date palms can only be cultivated in places fit for it.[9]
As for his mother, she is Khawlah bint Manzur al Fazariyyah.
