Dedication
To the one whom Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala selected for the greatest merit in history, which is compiling and protecting the Book of Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala. To this end, ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu said:
أعظم الناس في المصاحف أجرا أبو بكر رحمة الله على أبي بكر هو أول من جمع كتاب الله
The person to receive the greatest reward regarding the Mushafs is Abu Bakr. May Allah have mercy upon Abu Bakr; he is the first to compile the Book of Allah.[1]
That very merit which plunges those who harbour hatred towards him into a huge dilemma and imposes upon them disastrous choices:
- They acknowledge his merit of compiling the Qur’an and protecting it; and this is more severe upon them than being struck by swords or cut up by shears.
- They acknowledge his compilation of the Qur’an whilst believing that it had been distorted and its verses had been tampered with; and this is clear misguidance!
- They reject his compilation of the Qur’an, thereby falling into obstinacy due to rejecting what is proven as well as agreed upon in both Sunni as well as Shia transmitted legacies.
Regardless of how fortunate my pen is in praising the most truthful of this Ummah, it will never be able to fulfil one thousandth of his deserved praise.
How excellent is the erudite jurist ‘Umarah ibn ‘Ali al Madhhaji’s statement:
ليت الكواكب تدنو لي فأنظمها عقود مدح فما أرضى لكم كلمي
If only the stars could draw near to me so I could arrange them,
Into a necklace of praise, due to my speech being insufficient to please you.
