(19) أَنْبَأَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي الفَتْحِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ المَرْوَزيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي المُظَفَّرِ السَّمْعَانِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الفَرَجِ المُظَفَّرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيْلَ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ التَمِيْمِيُّ الجُرْجَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الطِّرَازِيُّ المُقْرِئُ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوْبَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الخُزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ العَزِيْزِ بْنِ المَاجِشُوْنِ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: كُنَّا زَمَنَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ لَا نَعْدِلُ بَعْدَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ أحدًا بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ، ثُمَّ عُمَرَ، ثُمَّ عُثْمَانَ، ثُمَّ نَتْرُكُ أَصْحَابَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ، لَا نُفَاضِلُ بَيْنَهُم

Muhammad ibn Abi al Fath ibn ‘Abdul Rahman al Marwazi narrated to us—Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Abi al Muzaffar al Sam’ani narrated to us—Abu al Faraj al Muzaffar ibn Ismail ibn Ahmed al Tamimi al Jurjani narrated to us—Abu al Hassan ‘Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Muhammad al Tirazi al Muqri narrated to us—Muhammad ibn Ya’qub narrated to us—Muhammad ibn Ishaq al Saghani narrated to us—Abu Salamah al Khuza’i[1] narrated to us—from ‘Abdul ‘Aziz ibn Majishun—’Ubaidullah narrated to us— from Nafi’—from Ibn ‘Umar:

In the time of the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam we would not consider anyone after the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam superior to Abu Bakr, then ‘Umar, then ‘Uthman. We would then leave the [other] Companions of the Messenger salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and not grade anyone amongst them.[2]
