His full name is Abu Bakr Ahmed ibn Jafar ibn Hamdan ibn Malik ibn Shabib al Qati’i. (d. 360 A.H).
The readers are being informed that this narration of Abu Bakr Qati’i as well as its chain is the same as the second narration of al Hakim. The entire discussion can be found there under the chains of al Hakim. However, the summary of the discussion is that Khalaf ibn Salim al Makhri appears in this chain. He was habitual of gathering faults and criticism against the Sahabah radiya Llahu ‘anhum and he was an outright Shia. (Refer to Taqrib, Tahdhib and Tarikh Baghdad of al Khatib for more detail.) Therefore his narrations cannot be accepted concerning those matters which are not agreed upon between the Ahlus Sunnah and the Shia.
Note: – Mir Hamid Hussain mentioned it in vol. 1 pg. 188 of ‘Abaqat al Anwar.
