Hussain is from me and I am from him.
The scholars have graded the isnad of this hadith Hassan. Nonetheless, the Rawafid understand it in a certain way; the way Shaitan inspired them due to their ignorance and following their habit of giving such false meanings to words which the words cannot bear like they did in the verse of al kisa’ (the shawl), the verse of al tathir (purification), and the verse of the imamah of Ibrahim ‘alayh al Salam.
They cite the hadith as proof for the superiority of their Imams over the Prophets of Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala.
Al Nawawi elucidates, “The meaning is exaggeration in the oneness of their way and their unanimity in the obedience of Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala.”[1]
Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam observed about the al Ash’ariyyin due to their mutual assistance:
هم مني و أنا منهم
They are from me and I am from them.[2]
Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam comment on Sayyidina Julaybib radiya Llahu ‘anhu who killed 9 before he tasted martyrdom:
هذا مني و أنا منه
He is from me and I am from him.[3]
