Hadith 200

قلت لجبريل: أي الأعمال أحب إلى الله عز وجل؟ قال: الصلاة عليك يا محمد، وحب علي بن أبي طالب.

I said to Jibril, “What actions are most beloved to Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala?” He said, “Salutation upon you, O Muhammad and the love of ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib.”

Al Daylami narrates this hadith — from Abu Sa’id al Hassan ibn ‘Uthman — Abu Zur’ah ‘Ubaidullah ibn ‘Abdul Karim narrated to us — ‘Atiq ibn Ya’qub ibn Siddiq ibn Musa ibn ‘Abdullah ibn al Zubair narrated to us — Zakariyya ibn Yahya ibn Manzur narrated to us — Hisham ibn ‘Urwah narrated to us — from his father — from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib who said, “The Messenger of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said…”

Al Suyuti mentions this hadith in his work on fabrications.

Abu Sa’id al Hassan ibn ‘Uthman al Tustari is a kadhdhab (liar).

It (also) contains (the narrator) Zakariyya ibn Yahya ibn Manzur. He is da’if (weak). It has been said that he is actually matruk (suspected of forgery). Some considered him acceptable.[1]

The hadith is mawdu’ (fabricated). Ibn ‘Iraq mentions it in his work on fabrications.[2]
