حسبك ما لمحبك حسرة عند موته، ولا وحشة في قبره، ولا فزع يوم القيامة.
Sufficient for you (is the fact that) your lover will not experience grief at the time of his death, loneliness in his grave, and fear on the Day of Resurrection.
Al Khatib narrates this hadith — from Abu al Hassan Ahmed ibn al Hussain al Birti — Abu Dharr al Ba’labakki narrated to us — ‘Aliyyak narrated to us — Ahmed ibn Muhammad al Hashimi narrated to us — Marwan ibn Muhammad narrated to us — Khalaf al Ashja’i informed us — from Sufyan al Thawri — from Mansur ibn al Mu’tamir — from his mother — from his grandmother — from ‘Aʾishah who said, “I heard the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam say to ‘Ali…”[1]
Al Birti is majhul (unknown) and the report is munkar (unacceptable).[2]
Ibn Hajar added, “The chain of transmission is made up as well. No one in it is identifiable except for ‘Aʾishah, Mansur, and al Thawri.”[3]
Al Dhahabi said, “The chain of transmission is muzlim (murky). It was fabricated onto Sufyan (al Thawri).”[4]
Al Suyuti mentions this hadith in his work on fabrications.[5]
