When his Lord appeared to the mountain, he indicated by showing the tip of his baby finger

Abu Musa narrated to me―Muaz ibn Muaz narrated to me―Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to me from―Thabit from―Anas from―Nabi salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam who said:

When his Lord appeared to the mountain[1], he indicated by showing the tip of his baby finger.

Humaid al Tawil exclaimed in surprise, “What do you mean by this, O Abu Muhammad?”

Thabit struck him ruthlessly on his chest and shouted, “Who are you, O Humaid, and what are you, O Humaid? Anas ibn Malik reports from Nabi salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and you say, ‘What do you mean by this?’”

Although al Tirmidhi authenticated the narration[2], al Suyuti emphatically declared the opposite due to the presence of Ayub ibn Khawt. He commented on another chain saying, “It is not established.”[3]

Ibn al Jawzi passed a similar remark, “This is not sahih.”[4]
