We only recognised the hypocrites by their belying Allah and His Messenger and hatred for ‘Ali

حدثنا أبو جعفر أحمد بن عبيد الحافظ بهمدان ثنا الحسن بن علي الفسوي ثنا إسحاق بن بشر الكاهلي ثنا شريك عن قيس بن مسلم عن أبي عبد الله الجدلي عن أبي ذر رضي الله عنه قال ما كنا نعرف المنافقين إلا بتكذيبهم الله و رسوله و التخلف عن الصلوات و البغض لعلي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه

Abu Jafar Ahmed ibn ‘Ubaid al Hafiz narrated to us in Hamdan―Hassan ibn ‘Ali al Fasawi narrated to us―Ishaq ibn Bishr al Kahili narrated to us―Sharik narrated to us from―Qais ibn Muslim from―Abu ‘Abdullah al Jadali from―Abu Dhar radiya Llahu ‘anhu who mentioned:

We only recognised the hypocrites by their belying Allah and His Messenger, failure to attend the prayers, and hatred for ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib radiya Llahu ‘anhu.

Al Hakim said that it meets the standards of Muslim.^[1] However,

Ishaq ibn Bishr al Kahili

He is infamous for lying.
Al Daraqutni says, “He was among the many who fabricated ahadith.”^[2]

Another narration has the wording:

إن كنا لنعرف المنافقين

Definitely we recognised the hypocrites.

Abu Harun al ‘Abdi is in that sanad and he has been criticised.
