Aisha radiya Llahu ‘anha is regarded to be part of the Ahlul Bayt because she is from the wives of the Rasul of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. The Qurʾan has explicitly mentioned them as part of the Ahlul Bayt. Despite this we wish to mention some of her praise on the rest of the Ahlul Bayt to show the great love and the close friendship between them.
In Tarikh al Tabari it has been recorded that she said:
By Allah, There was nothing between me and ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu in the days that have passed except that which takes place between a woman and her in laws. Indeed, he is from amongst the best of people in my eyes.
‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu said, “O people, by Allah, she has done good and spoken the truth. This was the only thing that was between us. Verily she is the wife of your Nabi salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam in this world and in the hereafter.”[1]
It has been mentioned in the book, al Isti’ab of Ibn ‘Abdul Barr regarding her:
Aisha radiya Llahu ‘anha said, “Who told you about the fast of the Day of ‘Ashura’?”
The people replied, “‘Ali.”
She then said, “Indeed, he is from amongst the most knowledgeable with regards to the Sunnah.”[2]
Abu Dawood reports with a chain of narrators to Umm al Mu’minin, Aisha radiya Llahu ‘anha that she said:
I did not see anyone having a better resemblance to the ways, manners, and habits[3] of the Rasul of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam in her standing and sitting than Fatimah radiya Llahu ‘anhu, the daughter of the Rasul of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.[4]
It has been reported in Mustadrak of al Hakim radiya Llahu ‘anhu that Aisha radiya Llahu ‘anha said regarding Fatimah:
I have not seen anybody more truthful than her except her father.
Al Hakim says, “This narration is Sahih according to the pre requisites of Muslim.” Al Dhahabi concurred.[5]
In the book Bihar al Anwar of al Majlisi, the following has been recorded:
When the news of ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu’s killing of the Khawarij reached Aisha radiya Llahu ‘anha, she said, “I heard the Rasul of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam saying, ‘They are the worst of my Ummah and the best from my Ummah will kill them.’ The only thing that was between me and him was what happens between a woman and her in laws.”[6]
When ‘Amr ibn Wudd was killed by ‘Ali, Abu Bakr and ‘Umar radiya Llahu ‘anhuma stood up and kissed his head.[7]
Once Aisha told Fatimah radiya Llahu ‘anha:
Do you not wish that I give you the glad tidings that I heard the Rasul of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam saying, “There will be four women who will be the leaders of the women of Jannat: Maryam daughter of ‘Imran, Fatimah daughter of the Rasul of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, Khadijah daughter of Khuwaylid, and Asiyah wife of Firoun.”[8]
So if there was even the least amount of enmity between them, she would not have given her these amazing glad tidings.
