Statements of the scholars

Ibn Hibban has included her biography in his al Thiqat, wherein he said:

Fatimah bint Hussain ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib: She narrated from Asma’ bint ‘Umays. Musa al Juhani has narrated from her. She passed away when she was close to the age of 90.[1]

Ibn al Kathir al Dimashqi said about her while discussing one of the Hadith she narrated:

As for Fatimah bint Hussain ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib, she is the sister of Zayn al ‘Abidin. Her Hadith is Mashur (famous). The four Sunan record her narrations. She was amongst those brought to Damascus after her father was martyred, and she is from the reliable narrators…[2]

Ibn Hajar al Asqalani said about her:

Fatimah bint Hussain ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib al Hashimiyyah al Madaniyyah: The wife of Hassan [al Muthanna] ibn Hassan ibn ‘Ali. Reliable, from the fourth category. She passed away after 100 A.H when she had aged considerably.[3]

[1] Al Thiqat, 5/300, # 4948. His statement, “she was close to the age of 90,” is far from accurate as we have highlighted previously. The more accurate opinion is that she was close to 70.
