Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam passed away while leaning on the chest of ‘Ali

Muhammad ibn ‘Umar informed us―Sulaiman ibn Dawood ibn al Hussain narrated to me from―his father from―Abu Ghatfan who reports:

I asked Ibn ‘Abbas, “Do you know if Rasulullah’s salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam head was in anyone’s lap when he passed away.”

Ibn ‘Abbas said, “He passed away while leaning on ‘Ali’s chest.”

I asked, “But ‘Urwah narrated to me from ‘Aisha who asserts that Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam passed away in her arms.”

Ibn ‘Abbas shouted, “Do you know, by Allah, Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam passed away while leaning on ‘Ali’s chest. He is responsible for giving him ghusl together with my brother al Fadl ibn ‘Abbas. My father refused to be present saying, ‘Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam would command us to observe privacy,’ so he was in privacy.

This narration is mawdu’. Muhammad ibn ‘Umar al Waqidi is problematic. In fact, a kadhab. His Sheikh, Sulaiman ibn Dawood ibn al Hussain’s condition is unknown as Hafiz said.[1]

Furthermore, it contradicts the authentic reports which affirm that Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam passed away while leaning on the chest of Sayyidah ‘Aisha radiya Llahu ‘anha.

This is how they steal all the qualities and virtues of the Sahabah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and attribute them to Sayyidina ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu. They believe that he is al Siddiq al Akbar, and al Faruq al Akbar. Now they claim that Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam passed away in ‘Ali’s arms whereas the authentic narrations are explicit that he passed away in Sayyidina ‘Aisha’s radiya Llahu ‘anha arms.

What further substantiates the lies and fabrications of al Waqidi is the following concoction of his:

Muhammad ibn ‘Umar informed us―’Abdul ‘Aziz ibn Muhammad informed us from―Haram ibn ‘Uthman from―Abu Hazim from―Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah al Ansari who relates:

During the time of ‘Umar, Ka’b al Ahbar stood up and asked while we were seated by Amir al Mu’minin ‘Umar, “What were the last words spoken by Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam?”

‘Umar said, “Ask ‘Ali.”

“And where is he,” he asked.

“He is over there,” came the reply.

‘Ali explained, “I supported him to my chest. He placed his head on my shoulder and said: al Salah al Salah!”

Ka’b commented, “Similar is the last covenant of the Prophets. They have been commanded with it and will be resurrected upon it.”

He then asked, “Who gave him ghusl, O Amir al Mu’minin?”

He replied, “Ask ‘Ali.”

Accordingly he asked him and ‘Ali said, “I washed him while ‘Abbas was seated. Usamah and Shaqran were handing me the water in turns.”

This narration is also mawdu’. Muhammad ibn ‘Umar al Waqidi is a kadhab. His Sheikh’s Sheikh is Haram ibn ‘Uthman and both of them are kadhabs and matruk. Al Shafi’i says, “Narrating from Haram is haram.”[2]
