O Allah, do not take my life until You show me ‘Ali
حدثنا محمد بن بشار و يعقوب بن إبراهيم عن أبي الجراح حدثني جابر بن صبيح قال حدثتني أم شراحيل قالت حدثتني أم عطية قالت بعث النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم جيشا فيهم علي قالت فسمعت النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم و هو رافع يديه يقول اللهم لا تمتني حتى تريني عليا قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن غريب إنما نعرفه من هذا الوجه
Muhammad ibn Bashar and Ya’qub ibn Ibrahim narrated to us from―Abu al Jarrah―Jabir ibn Subayh narrated to me saying―Umm Sharahil narrated to me saying―Umm ‘Attiyah narrated to me saying:
The Nabi salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam despatched an army among whom was ‘Ali. I heard the Nabi salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam supplicating after raising his hands, “O Allah, do not take my life until You show me ‘Ali.”
Abu ‘Isa (al Tirmidhi) says, “This is a Hassan gharib hadith. We only know it from this chain.”[1]
The narration is da’if. Abu al Jarrah al Mahri and Umm Sharahil are both majhul. Al Albani classified the sanad da’if.[2]
