Jibril loves you (referring to ‘Ali) and who is better than Jibril

إن جبريل يحبك (يعني يا علي) و من هو خير من جبريل

Jibril loves you (referring to ‘Ali) and who is better than Jibril?

Tabarani reported it in al Mujam al Kabir[1] and from him Abu Nuaim in al Marifah[2] with the chain:

Ahmed ibn ‘Amr al Bazzar (narrated to us) — Muhammad ibn Ammarah ibn Subayh (narrated to us) — Nasr bin Muzahim (narrated to us) — Mindal (narrated to us) — from Ismail ibn Ziyad — from Ibrahim ibn Bashir al Ansari — from Dahhak al Ansari

This chain of this narration is severely flawed.

Muhammad ibn ‘Ammarah and Ibrahim ibn Bashir al Ansari have not been deemed reliable by anyone except Ibn Hibban. Mindal ibn ‘Ali al ‘Anazi al Kufi is da’if. Nasr ibn Muzahim is Matruk (suspected of forgery). Ismail ibn Ziyad could be al Kufi al Sakuni, he has been labelled a liar.

Al Haythami said in Majma al Zawa’id[3], “Al Tabarani narrated it and it contains Nasr ibn Muzahim who is Matruk.”

Hafiz says is al Isabah, “Its isnad is da’if.”[4]
