من ناصب عليا الخلافة بعدي فهو كافر، وقد حارب الله ورسوله، ومن شك في علي فهو كافر.
Whoever opposes ‘Ali for the khilafah after me is a kafir (disbeliever); he has waged war against Allah and His Messenger. Whoever casts doubt regarding ‘Ali, he is a kafir (disbeliever).
Ibn al Maghazili narrates — Hassan ibn Ahmed ibn Musa al Ghandajani informed us — Abu al Fath Hilal ibn Muhammad narrated to us — Ismail ibn ‘Ali narrated to us — ‘Ali ibn al Hussain narrated to us — ‘Abdul Ghaffar ibn Jafar narrated to us — Jarir narrated to us — from al A’mash — from Ibrahim al Taymi — from his father — from Abu Dharr al Ghifari who said, “The Messenger of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said…”[1]
Al Dhahabi states, “Ismail ibn ‘Ali al Khuza’i is a teacher of Hilal al Haffar. Al Khatib says he is not a thiqah (reliable). I say (i.e. al Dhahabi) he is accused of lying; he narrates unusual reports.”[2]
I could not trace ‘Ali ibn al Hussain and ‘Abdul Ghaffar.
As mentioned previously, Ibn al Maghazili is da’if (weak).
The hadith is mawdu’ (fabricated).
[1] Ibn al Maghazili: Manaqib ‘Ali, hadith no. 68.
[2] Al Dhahabi: Mizan al ‘Itidal, 1/238.
