Hadith 2

We were seated in front of Nabi salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and he said: “Shall I not indicate to you such a person that, if you were to seek guidance from him, you will never go astray and you will never be destroyed?”

They said: “But of course, O Messenger of Allah.”

He said: “He is this (person).” And he pointed to ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib radiya Llahu ‘anhu. Then he said: “Be his brother, support him, have trust in him, and wish him well, for surely Jibril ‘alayh al Salam informed me of what I said to you.”

Ibn al Maghazili narrates — from Ishaq ibn Ibrahim al Sabi’i — from Ma’ruf ibn Kharrabudh — from Abu Jafar Muhammad ibn ‘Ali — from Zaid ibn Arqam.[1]

This hadith is batil (baseless).

There is a difference of opinion regarding the status of Ma’ruf ibn Kharrabudh.

Ishaq ibn Ibrahim al Sabi’i could not be traced.

Ibn al Maghazili is da’if (weak).
