Verily in al Firdaws there is a spring that is sweeter than honey, softer than butter, colder than ice, and more fragrant than musk. It contains clay from which Allah created us and created our shia (followers). Whoever is not from that clay is neither from us nor our shia. This is the covenant upon which Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala took the wilayah of ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib.
Ibn ‘Asakir narrates this hadith — from ‘Ubaid ibn Mihran al ‘Attar — Yahya ibn ‘Abdullah ibn al Hassan — from his father — from Jafar ibn Muhammad — from their father — from their grandfather who said, “The Messenger of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said…”[1]
This hadith is mawdu’ (fabricated).
Al Dhahabi said, “‘Ubaid ibn Mihran Abu ‘Abbad al Madani is majhul (unknown). And he possesses a fabricated hadith.”[2] Al Dhahabi went on and quoted the above hadith.
I have not seen anyone deem Yahya ibn ‘Abdullah ibn al Hassan a thiqah (reliable). His biography appears in al Jarh wa al Ta’dil of Abu Hatim and in other places.

[2] Al Dhahabi: Mizan al I’tidal, 3/23.
