Hadith 159

Whoever loves me should love ‘Ali. And whoever loves ‘Ali should love my daughter Fatimah. And whoever loves my daughter Fatimah should love their children al Hassan and al Hussain. They are the two predecessors of the inhabitants of Jannat. The inhabitants of Jannat will hasten to see them. Loving them is iman and hating them is hypocrisy. My intercession—for the fact that I am a noble Prophet that Allah sent with the truth—is haram for the person who hates someone from my Ahlul Bayt. Therefore, love my Ahlul Bayt and love ‘Ali.

Ibn ‘Adi narrates (and Ibn al Jawzi in a similar manner) — ‘Abdullah ibn Hafs narrated to us — Bishr ibn al Walid al Qadi narrated to us — Hazm ibn Abi Hazm al Qati’i narrated to us — from Thabit — from Anas who said, “The Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said…”[1]

Ibn ‘Adi says, “This hadith is batil (false) with this chain of transmission. Our teacher (in this chain) fabricated this hadith. The words in this hadith do not resemble the words of Prophets.”

Al Dhahabi, al Suyuti, Ibn ‘Iraq, and al Shawkani followed the same ruling as Ibn al Jawzi in determining the hadith a fabrication.[2]
