قرأ أصبغ بن نباتة على علي: وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِن بَنِي آدَمَ مِنْ ظُهُوْرِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قَالُوْا بَلَىٰ [الأعراف: 172،] وقال: فبكى علي رضي الله عنه، وقال: إني لأذكر الوقت الذي أخذ الله تعالى علي فيه الميثاق.
Asbagh ibn Nabatah read the following verse to ‘Ali, “And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam – from their loins – their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them], ‘Am I not your Lord?’ They said, ‘Yes, we have testified.”[1] ‘Ali began crying and said, “Verily I remember the time in which Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala took this covenant from me.”
Ibn al Maghazili narrates — Abu al Hassan Ahmed ibn al Muzaffar al ‘Attar informed us — Abu ‘Abdullah al Hussain ibn Khalaf ibn Muhammad al Dawoodi narrated to us — Abu Muhammad al Hassan ibn Muhammad al Tal’akbari narrated to us — Tahir ibn Sulaiman ibn Zamil al Naqid narrated to us — Abu ‘Ali al Hussain ibn Ibrahim narrated to us — al Hassan ibn ‘Ali narrated to us — al Hassan ibn Hassan al Sukkari narrated to us — Ibn Hind narrated to us — from Ibn Sama’ah — from Jafar ibn Muhammad — from his father, Muhammad ibn ‘Ali — from his father, ‘Ali ibn al Hussain — from his father, al Hussain ibn ‘Ali — from his father, ‘Ali…[2]
This hadith is batil (false) and mawdu’ (fabricated). Most of the narrators beneath Jafar are unidentified and unknown.
