Hadith 117

The Messenger of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam went to the masjid and said, “Verily Allah sent wahi (revelation) to His Prophet Musa, ‘Build for me a pure masjid that only Musa, Harun, and the two sons of Harun can reside in.’ And verily Allah sent wahi (revelation) to me, ‘Build for me a pure masjid that only ‘Ali, the two sons of ‘Ali, and I can reside in.’”

Ibn al Maghazili narrates this hadith — Ahmed ibn Muhammad informed us ijazatan (he authorized us to transmit the hadith) — ‘Umar ibn Shawdhab narrated to us — Ahmed ibn ‘Isa ibn al Haytham narrated to us — Muhammad ibn ‘Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us — Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Maymun narrated to us — ‘Ali ibn ‘Ayyash narrated to us — from al Harith ibn Hasirah — from ‘Abd ibn Thabit.[1]

This hadith is mawdu’ (fabricated).

Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Maymun is munkar al hadith (unacceptable in hadith).

Ibn al Maghazili is da’if (weak).

His teacher’s name is Ibn ‘Abdul Wahhab; he is unidentified.

I think ‘Ali ibn ‘Ayyash’s name is actually Ibn ‘Abis. He is da’if (weak). In fact, he is matruk (suspected of forgery).

A number of ahadith have previously been mentioned with this chain of transmission.

Ibn ‘Asakir narrates this version of the hadith from Muhammad ibn ‘Ubaidullah ibn Abi Rafi’.[2] He is matruk (suspected of forgery).

Al Albani ruled the hadith to be a fabrication.[3] He suspected Ibn Abi Rafi’ for fabricating it.
