Fitnah is there (thrice) where the horn of shaitan rises

Musa ibn Ismail narrated to us―Juwayriyah narrated to us from―Nafi’ from―’Abdullah radiya Llahu ‘anhu who reported:

Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam stood up to address and pointed in the direction of ‘Aisha’s house and warned, “Fitnah is there (thrice) where the horn of Shaitan rises.”

Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, “The head of kufr is from the East.”[1]

Ibn ‘Umar radiya Llahu ‘anhu states, “I heard Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam stating as he pointed with his hand towards the East, ‘Harken! Indeed Fitnah is there.’”[2]

Salim ibn ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar said, “O people of Iraq! How you ask about trivial matters and perpetrate major crimes! I heard my father saying that he heard Rasulullah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam declare, ‘Certainly, fitnah will come from there,’ and he gestured with his hand towards the East, ‘from where the two horns of Shaitan rise.’”[3]

The Sahabah radiya Llahu ‘anhum waged war against Musaylamah. They would refer to that war as the Battle of Yamamah. They did not apply the hadith:

Najd is the horn of Shaitan.

on their war with Musaylamah. They applied it to Iraq as it appears above from the established narrations from them.
