[1] She gave birth to Jafar, ‘Awn, and ‘Abbas.

[2] According to Abu al Hassan al ‘Umari she is Ruqayyah al Sughra, while Mus’ab al Zubairi says she is Ruqayyah al Kubra. She gave bore for Muslim: ‘Abdullah—who was martyred at Taff, ‘Ali, and Muhammad. The progeny of Muslim ibn ‘Aqil terminated.

[3] According to Mus’ab al Zubairi her name is Umm al Hussain. She bore children for Ja’dah but she did not have any children with Jafar ibn ‘Aqil.

[4] She bore him ‘Abdul Karimand a daughter who was married to ‘Asim ibn ‘Umar ibn al Khattab. The progeny of Abu al Hayyaj terminated.

[5] She gave bore him: Muhammad, ‘Abdul Rahman, Muslim, and Umm Kulthum. His progeny terminated.

[6] She bore him: ‘Aqil.

[7] According to Ibn al Taqtaqi she married Sulaiman ibn ‘Aqil ibn Abi Talib, and it is not as Mus’ab al Zubairi states.

[8] She bore him: Yahya according to Ibn al Taqtaqi, but according to Mus’ab al Zubairi she bore him Hassan.

[9] She bore him Nafisah, who was wed to ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Ali ibn Hussain ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib.

[10] She bore him Jamilah according to Ibn al Taqtaqi, but according to Mus’ab al Zubairi her name was Hamidah.

[11] She bore him Bardah and Khalidah according to Ibn al Taqtaqi, but according to Mus’ab al Zubairi her name was Barrah.

[12] She bore him ‘Uthman and Kathirah according to Ibn al Taqtaqi, but according to Mus’ab al Zubairi her name was Kindahدرج.

[13] She bore him children and passed away in his wedlock. According to Ibn al Taqtaqi she bore him Nafisah.

[14] She bore him Sa’id and ‘Aqil according to Mus’ab al Zubairi.

[15] Mus’ab al Zubairi records his name as Abu al Sanabil ‘Abdul Rahman ibn ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amir ibn Kurayz. However, according to Ibn al Taqtaqi he was ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amir ibn Kurayz, as mentioned by Ibn Habib in al Muhabbar and Abu al Hassan al ‘Umari writes his name as Ibn Kurayz from the Banu ‘Abd Shams.

[16] As recorded by Abu al Hassan al ‘Umari in al Majdi. Ibn al Taqtaqi says, “The daughters of Amir al Mu’minin were 28 in number. Abu al Hassan al ‘Umari mentions that only 12 of them were married and the others were not. Amongst his daughters were: Umm Ya’la: Her mother was Kalbiyyah (i.e. from the tribe of Banu Kalb); Lubabah: whose mother was an Umm Walad; she passed away in childhood; Amat Allah: whose mother was an Umm Walad; she passed away in childhood; Baqiyyah: whose mother was an Umm Walad; she passed away in childhood; Umm al Kiram: she passed away in childhood; Ruqayyah: whose mother was an Umm Walad; she passed away in childhood; Umm Abiha: whose mother was an Umm Walad; she passed away in childhood; Umm ‘Abdullah, whose mother was an Umm Walad; she passed away in childhood; Ruqayyah: whose mother was an Umm Walad; she passed away in childhood; Jamanah: whose mother was an Umm Walad; she passed away in childhood; Fatimah: whose mother was an Umm Walad; she passed away in childhood; Umm Jafar: whose mother was an Umm Walad; she passed away in childhood; Umm Salamah: whose mother was an Umm Walad; she passed away in childhood.”

For more information concerning the daughters of ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu refer to al Asili (pg. 59-60), Ansab al Ashraf (2/188-194), Nasab Quraysh (pg. 40-46), al Ma’arif (pf. 210), al Muhabbar (pg. 56), al Majdi (pg. 59, Ansariyan), al Irshad (1/354), Lubab al Ansab (1/333-334), and Bihar al Anwar (42/74-110).

[17] It has been said that she was actually married to ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan.

[18] This Umm ‘Amr is not the same person who was the wife of Hashim ibn Hashim.

[19] Do not confuse ‘Atikah bint Zaid—the sister of Sa’id ibn Zaid—with ‘Atikah bint Sa’id ibn Zaid, who is her niece.
