Abu al Khayr’s Teachers

 

  1. The author’s father, Ismail ibn Yusuf ibn Muhammad ibn al ‘Abbas Abu Sa’d al Talqani al Qazwini. He was an ascetic, led a righteous life and was well versed in Jurisprudence and laws of inheritance.[1]

He narrates the book Kitab ‘Itilal al Qulub from al Qadi Abu al Mahasin ‘Abdul Wahid ibn Ismail al Tabari who narrates from — Abu al Hassan al Samarqandi al Hussaini who narrates from — ‘Abdul Malik ibn Muhammad al ‘Adal who narrates from — Ahmed ibn Ibrahim al Kindi who narrates from — Muhammad ibn Jafar al Khara’iti (the author of the book).

 

  1. The great scholar of the Qur’an, Hussain ibn Ahmed ibn al Hassan Abu ‘Ali al H He was born 419 A.H and passed the year 515 A.H.[2]

He narrates Marifat al Sahabah from its author Abu al Nuaim.

 

  1. Al Muwafaq ibn Sa’ id Abu Muhammad al Nishapuri, I could not find a biography of him.

He narrates the Musnad of ‘Abdul Razaq — from Abu ‘Ali al Safar who narrates from — Abu Sa’d al Nasrawi who narrates from — Ibn Ziyad al Samadi who narrates from — Ibn Shirawayh and Ahmed Ibn Ibrahim who narrate from — Ishaq ibn Rahuyah, the author of the Musnad .

 

  1. The great sage and long lived exceptional scholar of Hadith and the sole authority on Isnad (chains of narrations) in Khorasan, Zahir ibn Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmed Abu al Qasim al Shahami al Mustamli al Shuruti. He was born the year 446 A.H and passed away in 533 A.H. [3]

He narrates Tarikh Nishapur of al Hakim from Abu ‘Uthman al Sabuni.

 

  1. The great scholar and Hadith instructor, Shahardar ibn Shirawayh ibn Shahardar Abu Mansur al Hamadhani al Daylami. [4]

He narrates Fada’il al Sahabah of Imam Ahmed from Mubarak ibn’Abdul Jabbar who narrates from — Ibn al ‘Alaf who narrates from — al Qati’i.

 

  1. ‘Ali ibn al Shafi’i ibn Dawood Abu al Hassan al Faqih al Qazwini, otherwise known as al Ustadh.

He would conduct classes and pass legal verdicts in Qazwin. He passed on in the year 533 A.H.[5]

He narrated the Sunan of Ibn Majah from Abu Mansur al Maqumi who narrates from — al Qasim ibn Abi al Mundhir al Khatib who narrates from — ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Salamah ibn Bahr al Qatan who narrated from the author of the Sunan.

 

  1. Muhammad ibn Ahmed ibn Muhammad Abu Bakr al Bazaz al Bustami, I could not find a biography detailing his life.

He narrated from Fadhl ibn Abi al Harb al Jurjani.

 

  1. Muhammad ibn al Fadl ibn Ahmed ibn Muhammad ibn Abi al ‘Abbas Abu ‘Abdullah al Sa’idi al Furawi, commonly referred to as Faqih al Haram. He was born approximately in the year 441 A.H and passed on the year 530 A.H.[6]

He narrates the Sahih of Imam Muslim from ‘Abdul Ghafar al Farisi who narrates from — al Jaludi who narrates from — Ibrahim ibn Muhammad al Faqih who narrates from the author.

 

  1. The great orator and preacher Muhammad ibn Abi al Fath ibn ‘Abdul Rahman al Khatbi al Kushmihani. He was born the year 493 A.H and passed in the year 578 A.H.[7]

He narrates from Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Abi al Muzafar al Sam’ani.
