The Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, “There is not a tree in Jannat except there is on every leave of that tree the following: Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr al Siddiq (the Truthful), ‘Umar al Faruq (one who distinguishes between truth and falsehood), and ‘Uthman Dhu al Nurayn (Possessor of two lights).”[1]
[1] The narration is Mawdu’ (fabricated). Al Qati’i narrates it in Zawa’id ‘ala Fada’il al Sahabah (664) from Muhammad ibn Ahmed al Burani. In the chain of transmission there is ‘Ali ibn Jamil, who is suspected of fabricating narrations. Ibn al Jawzi states in al Mawdu’at (1/251), “Abu Hatim ibn Hibban said, ‘This narration is fabricated and ‘Ali ibn Jamil use to fabricate narrations. It is not permissible to narrate from him in any condition.’” Ibn ‘Adi said, “The only person to narrate this narration from Jabir was is ‘Ali ibn Jamil. ‘Ali ibn Jamil narrates fabricated narrations from reputable scholars and alters chains of narration. This narration was also falsely attributed to him by a man known as Ma’roof ibn Abi Ma’roof and another also falsely attributed it to him. In the chain there is also Hassan ibn ‘Abdul Rahman ibn ‘Abad al Ihtiyati who was suspected of fabricating narrations.” al Kamil 8/187.
