Sayyidah Fatimah bint Hussain

Name and lineage

She is Fatimah bint Hussain ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib ibn ‘Abdul Muttalib ibn Hashim ibn ‘Abd Manaf.

She was named after her paternal grandmother, Fatimah al Zahra’ radiya Llahu ‘anha, blessed daughter of the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. She is the daughter of Sayyidina Hussain al Shahid radiya Llahu ‘anhu. She is also the granddaughter of Sayyidina Talhah al Khayr ibn ‘Ubaidullah radiya Llahu ‘anhu [through her mother].

She inherited a vast array of noble characteristics: Knowledge, piety, respect, manners; salient traits and features from her noble ancestors, parents, grandparents (paternal and maternal), uncles and aunts from her mother and father.[1]

She was a renowned transmitter of Hadith, a reliable successor (Tabi’i), and an exemplary mother and woman, whose life and accomplishments are particularly relevant in the present era.

Added to her noble ancestry was her great depth in knowledge—may Allah be pleased with her.
