Hadith 58: Whoever holds a grudge against ‘Ali holds a grudge against me. And whoever holds a grudge against me has disbelieved.

Hadith 57: Allah does not establish the love of ‘Ali in the heart of a believer—thereby causing his feet to slip—except that Allah will make his feet firm on the Day of Resurrection on the Sirat (Bridge).

Hadith 59: O ‘Ammar, if you see ‘Ali tread through a certain valley, and others tread through another, tread through the way of ‘Ali and leave the others. He will never lead you to ruin. And he will never take you away from huda (guidance).

Hadith 58

من حسد عليا فقد حسدني، ومن حسدني فقد كفر.

Whoever holds a grudge against ‘Ali holds a grudge against me. And whoever holds a grudge against me has disbelieved.

Ibn Mardawayh narrates — ‘Abdul Khaliq ibn Muhammad ibn Marwan narrated to us — my father narrated to us — Masih ibn Muhammad narrated to us — Sallam ibn Abi ‘Amrah narrated to me — from Ibn Sirin — from Anas who said, “The Messenger of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said…”

Ibn al Jawzi cites this hadith and says, “This hadith contains the narrator Sallam. Ibn Hibban says it is not permissible to consider him a valid form of proof.”[1]

This chain of transmission is wah (feeble). I could not trace ‘Abdul Khaliq ibn Muhammad ibn Marwan, his father (Muhammad ibn Marwan), and Masih ibn Muhammad.

The hadith of Sallam ibn Abi ‘Amrah are not worth anything (i.e. he is da’if (weak)), as Ibn Ma’in stated.
