إنكم لتذكرون رجلا كان يسمع وطء جبريل فوق بيته.
(‘Ali ibn Abi Talib’s name was mentioned in the presence of Ibn ‘Abbas and he said,) You are remembering a man who used to hear the treading of Jibril (when he would descend with wahi (revelation)) above his house.
Al Qati’i and Ibn ‘Asakir narrate — from Suwaid ibn Sa’id — ‘Amr ibn Thabit narrated to us — from Abu Ishaq — from Sa’id ibn Jubayr — from Ibn ‘Abbas who said, “‘Ali ibn Abi Talib’s name was mentioned in his presence and he said…”[1]
This hadith is munkar (unacceptable).
Suwaid is da’if (weak).
‘Amr is (‘Amr) ibn Hurmuz. He is matruk (suspected of forgery).
Abu Ishaq is a mudallis[2] (obfuscates when he narrates) and a mukhtalit (commits serious errors).
