The verse, “And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other” was, by Allah, revealed about us.
Imam Ahmed and others narrate — from Sufyan — from Isra’il Abu Musa — from Hassan — from ‘Ali.[1]
The narrators of this hadith are all reliable. However, Hassan did not hear (hadith) from ‘Ali.
Ibn Abi Hatim narrates — Muhammad ibn Hammad al Tahrani informed us (in what he wrote to me) — ‘Abdul Razzaq informed us — Ma’mar informed us — from Qatadah that ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib said about the verse, And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other, “I hope me, Talhah, and Zubair are from those about whom Allah says, ‘And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment…’”[2]
This version of the hadith contains nothing that says it was (specifically) revealed about them (i.e. the family of the Prophet).
[1] Imam Ahmed: Fada’il al Sahabah, hadith no. 1018.
[2] Ibn Abi Hatim: Tafsir Ibn Abi Hatim: 5/1478.
