Hadith 23
في قوله سبحانه وتعالى: وَلَتَعۡرِفَنَّهُمۡ فِي لَحۡنِ ٱلۡقَوۡلِۚ [محمد: 30،] قال: ببغضهم علي بن أبي طالب.
Regarding the verse of Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala, …but you will surely know them by the tone of [their] speech,[1] the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “By their hatred for ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib.”
Ibn al Maghazili narrates — Ahmed ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Abdul Wahhab informed us idhnan (he authorized us to narrate this hadith) — Abu Ahmed ‘Umar ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Shadhab informed us — Jafar ibn Muhammad ibn Nusayr (al Khuldi) narrated to us — ‘Abdullah ibn Ayub ibn Zadan al Khazzaz narrated to us — Zakariyya ibn Yahya narrated to us — ‘Ali ibn Qadim narrated to us — from a man — from Abu Harun al ‘Abdi — from Abu Sa’id al Khudri.[2]
The chain of transmission for this hadith is batil (false).
Abu Harun al ‘Abdi is matruk (suspected of forgery).
There is a difference of opinion regarding the status of ‘Ali ibn Qadim.
His teacher in this hadith is majhul (unknown).
I could not trace Ibn Zadan.
