Hadith 20
يطلع عليكم من تحت هذا الصور رجل من أهل الجنة قال: فطلع عليهم أبو بكر رضوان الله عليه فهنأناه بما قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم. ثم لبث هنيهة ثم قال يطلع عليكم من تحت هذا الصور رجل من أهل الجنة قال فطلع عمر قال فهنأناه بما قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم.قال ثم قال يطلع عليكم من تحت هذا الصور رجل من أهل الجنة اللهم إن شئت جعلته عليا ثلاث مرات فطلع علي.
The Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, “A man from the inhabitants of Jannat will appear before you from beneath these date palm trees.”
He (the narrator) said, “Abu Bakr radiya Llahu ‘anhu appeared before them.” We congratulated him for that which the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said (about him).
The Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam waited a short while (and) then said, “A man from the inhabitants of Jannat will appear before you from beneath these date palm trees.”
He (the narrator) said, “‘Umar radiya Llahu ‘anhu appeared before them.” We congratulated him for that which the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said (about him).
Then the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, “A man from the inhabitants of Jannat will appear before you from beneath these date palm trees. O Allah! If You so willed You can make him (i.e. the next person to appear) ‘Ali.” He said this three times. Thereafter ‘Ali radiya Llahu ‘anhu appeared.
This hadith has been narrated by Jabir, ibn Mas’ud, Salma, Umm Kharijah, and Abu Mas’ud radiya Llahu ‘anhum.
The hadith is Hassan (fair). All of its chains of transmission are weak except for one; it can possibly be made Hassan (fair). Imam Ahmed narrates this hadith from Jabir who said, “The Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said (the hadith).”[1]
The hadiths before and after are shahids (witness reports) for this hadith (thus strengthening it).
